That's fair, and I think it's all of us suffering for the weird expectations that female characters have to be 'strong' to be compelling. But somehow the strength seems to be limited to certain very specific set patterns and types.
Yeaaah, most of that shift had happened right when I was looking into Hamilton? And I kept away rather than trying to sort it.

Clearly, I'm going to have to come to you for book info? Because that's really good to know. And I agree with you about the short stories. That series has so many possibilities with the different side characters, it's nice to spend time with them.

Ha! Not friends! That would be terrible. Also, Elenore would be fascinated by his long view of time and events, even if they're possibly regionally specific, so they may be stuck with the possibility.

I mean, it's objectionable in the term that it seems to be mostly geared towards something women 'have to get over' in some weird expectation, but hey, life is terrible and I read to get away from it. >>

Fair enough. Yeah, all of her early books were really good and had Anita as this sort of badass necromancer that worked with law enforcement and had an actual character arc. Once she got hooked up with Micah and got the amor from sealing the triumvurate in Narcissus in Chains, I feel that's where the series really took a dive. Most of the books from then on were just poly-pornos with very little to do with her job or life outside of her magical sponge vagina powers, and it killed the series for me. I still read it, but every book I read makes me give it the finger and tell it "You were better before." Because I am bitter.

If you want the Briggs series and the short stories, I have them on my computer in... I think either mobi or epub format and I'm happy to share. PM or PP me on plurk and I can email them to you =)

He's mostly stayed in Europe, but he's travelled to the northern hemisphere places when it was available. A man has to learn, after all.
